Our team has a private tent with heaters for race day so we encourage the athletes to come earlier than they would for a normal race.  ALL athletes need to be at the team tent NO LATER than ONE HOUR prior to their scheduled race.

Coaches will take each team from the tent to the starting area 15 to 30 minutes prior to the start of their race.  ONLY competing athletes will be allowed in the starting/staging area. Similar to Regionals, athletes will be at the starting area without coaches or parents.

RACE LOCATION

Bourbon County Cross Country Course, Paris, KY

1054 Millersburg Road
Paris, KY 40361
*Follow message boards to appropriate parking locations*

The race course is approximately 35 minutes from the team hotel (Home2 Suites - Hamburg).   Due to the potential of heavy traffic - please allow plenty of time to get from the hotel to the race.    It is recommended to plan an hour from the hotel to parking.

TEAM SCHEDULE

We have planned activities to encourage time for athletes and families to socialize and spend time together.  Outside of these limited events, how families spend their time is at your complete discretion, but we ask that you allow ample time for runners to rest and prepare for the race.  This trip provides a great opportunity for informal gatherings with teammates (e.g. movie nights, video games, craft projects, pool).  We always chose a team hotel with an indoor pool, but we ask our families and athletes to play calmly and carefully prior to their race.

RESULTS / LIVE VIEWING

Live results will be available on the following webpage as well as at the course. live.dcracetiming.com

The race will also be livestreamed on USATF.TV.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PARKING - There is ample parking adjacent to the course. A special area will be
provided for handicap, buses, and RV’s. No RV hook ups and no overnight
parking.

MEMORABILIA - Hoodies, t-shirts, etc are customized by the athletes during the purchase process.  Due to this - memorabilia lines are typically LONG.  It is recommended to plan 1-2 hours if you plan to get memorabilia.   It is also recommended to purchase your items PRIOR to race day as popular items tend to sell out quickly.  Items can be purchased at the event hotel - The Clarion Hotel Conference Center - North and at the Bourbon County Park.

Merchandise will be on sale on Thursday at the Clarion North hotel from 12PM - 8:00PM and Friday from 8AM-7PM.   It will also be available at the Bourbon County Park on Friday from 10AM-4PM and Saturday from 7AM-5PM.

Experience tells us that:

1.  Getting your memorabilia on THURSDAY is the best idea - most groups will be there around 3:30pm

2.  Going to the the EVENT HOTEL is the better option than at the park to purchase items.

3.  Memorabilia is not cheap.  By the time your athlete customizes their hoodie or shirt - you can easily be looking at $75 or more for that one item.....so be prepared for that.

TEAM TENT - Our team will have a team tent available for athletes getting ready to race and post-race.  We will let everyone know where our tent is located within the TENT CITY.  Due to the the limited size of the tent, we ask that friends and families limit the time in the tent to give our athletes and coaches plenty of space to provide a safe  environment.

WHAT TO WEAR - Be sure to bring appropriate cold weather clothes - including all your team gear.   We would like to have all of the athletes in team hoodies at the race course on Friday and Saturday.  Click HERE to see the local weather in Paris, KY.

OTHER ITEMS TO BRING - The following items could be useful:

  • Hand warmers

  • Beach towel or small blanket to use in the team tent

  • Race day snacks and water bottle

PACKING - Make sure you have your running gear in your carry on bag - the S's -
shorts, singlet, shoes (spikes), socks (and sports bra).  These cannot easily be
replaced at the last minute if luggage is lost or delayed.

TEAM HOTEL

Home2 Suites by Hilton Lexington-Hamburg

1750 Pleasant Ridge Dr

Lexington, KY 40509

The team will be feeding all of the athletes, coaches, and families at the hotel on Friday evening prior to the race.   There is not a meeting room at the hotel, so we will utilize the lobby, common areas, and your guest room for eating.  We ask that everyone respect the other guests of the hotel while we are there.  We are not the only guests at this hotel - so please be respectful and represent our team properly.  Do not run up and down the hallways being loud.

The hotel is approximately:

  • 30 miles (35 minutes) to the race course

  • 8 miles (15 minutes) to the event hotel / memorabilia sales

  • 4 miles (10 minutes) to Jacobson Park (team practice on Thursday)

  • 4 miles (10 minutes) to the Parkette Drive-In (optional gathering on Saturday evening)
